Our Lancaster County community has come together throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to gain control of this deadly virus. Our efforts to mitigate the spread are working and we are currently seeing low rates of new cases and hospitalizations but we cannot let up now. It is critical that we remain vigilant as we safely continue to reopen our economy.
WASHINGTON, DC —Today, Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) voted against the House Democrats' first package of fiscal year 2021 appropriations, H.R. 7608. The legislation contained four of the twelve annual appropriations bills. H.R. 7608 included funding for State and Foreign Operations, Agriculture, Rural Development and Food and Drug Administration, Interior and Environment, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs.

Two weeks ago, I wrote about the importance of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and how it was an important step to provide additional support for our struggling dairy farmers, who are a critical part of our agricultural community in Lancaster County. While the USMCA is a win for our farmers and manufacturers in our community, there is more we can do to support dairy farmers through changes to our nation's trade policy.

LANCASTER, PA— Yesterday, Reps. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA), Ron Kind (D-WI), Josh Harder (D-CA), Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-KS) and 46 of their colleagues sent a bipartisan letter to United States Trade Representative (USTR) Robert Lighthizer and United States Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue urging their offices to work swiftly on a comprehensive Phase Two trade agreement with Japan.
