Smucker Joins Budget Committee, Ways & Means Subcommittees

February 4, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC — Rep. Lloyd Smucker has been officially appointed to subcommittees of the House Committee on Ways and Means, following today's organizational meeting of the committee.

Smucker joins the Worker & Family Support Subcommittee and the Oversight Subcommittee. In addition to those assignments, Smucker re-joins the House Committee on the Budget.

The subcommittee assignments are included in the Rules of the Committee on Ways and Means, which were approved at the full committee's organizational meeting today. In addition to the six subcommittees of the Committee on Ways and Means, members of the committee may also be appointed to membership on the House Committee on the Budget, in accordance with House Republican Conference Rules. Smucker previously served as a member of the Committee on the Budget during his first term.

"I am excited to get to work as an official member of the committee, advocating for small businesses, hard-working families and farmers of Pennsylvania's Eleventh District. On these subcommittees, I will continue to fight for pro-growth policies that strengthen our economy and provide additional economic opportunities for those looking to live their American Dream," said Smucker.

"I am looking forward to serving again as a member of the House Committee on the Budget, joining Ranking Member Jason Smith's panel to fight for fiscal responsibility and against the radical proposals that House Democrats seek to advance. It is already clear that House Democrats will not shy from skipping committee consideration of procedural measures like budget reconciliation in order to advance purely partisan policies."

"Congressman Smucker will bring a strong voice for fiscal responsibility and economic opportunity to the House Budget Committee," said House Budget Committee Ranking Member Jason Smith (MO-08). "His experience as a small business owner will be invaluable to the work of our Committee as we promote policies that help hardworking families, respect taxpayers, and oppose those policies that layer more burdens on America's workers and entrepreneurs. I look forward to standing alongside Congressman Smucker to support America's working class."
