WASHINGTON — Reps. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11), Mike Kelly (PA-16), and 18 other members of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee sent a letter to Internal Revenue Services (IRS) Commissioner Billy Long urging its reconsideration of Revenue Ruling 2024-14, unsupported Biden-era guidance that has created unnecessary confusion for taxpayers and threatens enforcement actions by drawing into question routine business transactions.

Lloyd Smucker and Vern Buchanan, Chair of the Health Subcommittee on Ways and Means, announced that he introduced the Hospital Inpatient Services Modernization Act alongside Dwight Evans (D-Pa.). Senators Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) introduced companion legislation in the Senate.

WASHINGTON—Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) voted in favor of H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. It was approved for final passage in the House by a vote of 218to 214.

WASHINGTON--Reps. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) and Don Davis (NC-01) have introduced the Medicare Patient Choice Act. The legislation evens the playing field for health care providers by correcting a technicality of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 which allowed only certain specified health care providers to opt out of the Medicare program. Physical and occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, audiologists, and chiropractors were excluded from the flexibility to opt out.

WASHINGTON—Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) has reintroduced legislation to repeal a costly Biden-era mandate that artificially drives up construction costs on federal projects. The Biden administration’s rule reverts to a definition of “prevailing wage” that has not been used in forty years, causing a dramatic increase in the cost of federally funded construction projects.

WASHINGTON—37 Members of the House Republican Conference, led by Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) Vice Chair of the Budget Committee, are calling for the Senate to pass reconciliation legislation that upholds the fiscal discipline of the House’s framework. The Members write: “As the Senate considers changes, we remain unequivocal in our position that any additional tax cuts must be matched dollar-for-dollar by real, enforceable spending reductions. That union is the cornerstone of the House framework adopted in Section 4001 of H.Con.Res.
