Smucker Supports Tax Relief for Working Families, Votes for One Big Beautiful Bill

July 3, 2025

WASHINGTON—Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) voted in favor of H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. It was approved for final passage in the House by a vote of 218to 214.

Rep. Smucker released the following statement after voting in favor of the legislation:

“Congressional Republicans, working with President Trump, have delivered on our promise to extend tax relief for hardworking families and small businesses. The One Big Beautiful Bill puts more money back in families’ pockets, provides tax certainty for small businesses, secures our border, unleashes America’s energy potential, and strengthens our national security — all while producing the greatest savings of any reconciliation legislation in our nation’s history.

This legislation marks real progress in slowing the growth of Washington’s spending and enacts the pro-growth policies needed to create new opportunities and lay the foundation for a stronger economy. By tapping into the promise of greater economic growth, we can strengthen America’s financial future and make it easier for families to plan and build a better life. I remain committed to changing America’s fiscal trajectory so future generations can thrive.”

  • Puts American families in control of their health care by expanding Health Savings Accounts (HSAs).

The legislation contains provisions authored by Rep. Smucker, including:

  • Permanent Tax Relief and Certainty for Small Businesses: Provides permanency to the small business tax deduction, known as Section 199A of the tax code. Smucker’s Main Street Tax Certainty Act has broad support among stakeholders in PA-11 and across the nation.

  • Expanded Support for Individuals with Disabilities Using ABLE Accounts: Smucker’s bipartisan ENABLE Act will allow individuals with disabilities and their families to save and invest in tax-advantaged accounts without jeopardizing their eligibility for essential federal support programs like Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income.

  • Improved Access to Primary Care: The Ways and Means Committee’s proposals include Smucker’s Primary Care Enhancement Act, which would clarify provisions of the Internal Revenue Code to remove barriers for individuals with HSAs from using those funds to access Direct Primary Care, a health care delivery model which provides high-quality care at lower cost for individuals of all ages and incomes across America.
