Washington, D.C. —Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) voted against congressional Democrats' so-called "Inflation Reduction Act" and opposed the legislation's passage by participating in debate on the floor of the House of Representatives. Washington, DC – Representative Lloyd Smucker is announcing the introduction of the Improving Access to Child Care Act, legislation aimed at providing states a dedicated funding stream to support the expansion of child care efforts by reforming a current but ineffective program.
The legislation would repurpose the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Contingency Fund to allow all states to use this funding stream to expand child care options for families in need.

The legislation also included Smucker-led Savings Access For Escaping and Rebuilding (SAFER) Act, to allow penalty-free withdrawals from retirement plans by domestic abuse survivors.
Washington, D.C. — Today, Representatives Lloyd Smucker (R-PA-11), Lucy McBath (D-GA-06), and Gwen Moore (D-WI-04), introduced the Savings Access For Escaping and Rebuilding (SAFER) Act, a bill to allow penalty-free withdrawals from retirement plans for domestic abuse victims. The bill gives survivors of domestic abuse the ability to access funds to be used to escape their abuser, promote the safety of themselves and their families, and begin the process of rebuilding their lives.
