Earlier this month, I joined 11 of my House Budget Committee Republican colleagues in visiting our nation's southern border in McAllen, Texas, to see President Biden's border crisis first-hand. Now in my third term in Congress, I have visited the border more often than President Biden, who has been in Washington, D.C. for nearly half a century. His refusal to see the border crisis firsthand is an acknowledgement that his policies continue to fail the American people.

WASHINGTON, DC – Area Congressman Lloyd Smucker joined veteran William Balabanow of Lititz, Lancaster County, at a ceremony recognizing veterans of the United States Merchant Mariners for their service during World War II. Balabanow was one of 10 veterans who received the Congressional Gold Medal at the U.S. Capitol on behalf of the approximately 1,500 remaining Merchant Mariners of WWII. Merchant Mariners experienced some of the earliest action of the war due to German submarines attacking British merchant ships in the Atlantic, disrupting supply chains to America's allies.

Twelve years ago, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Adm. Michael Mullen famously warned, "the most significant threat to our national security is our debt." At the time, the nation's federal debt was roughly $13.5 trillion. Congress and our government have completely ignored Mr. Mullen's warning; our national debt has now surpassed $30 trillion and is growing exponentially.

Washington, D.C. —Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11), a senior member of the House Budget Committee, took to the floor of the House of Representatives to speak out about rising inflation and the growing national debt, which recently eclipsed $30 trillion. Smucker's comments came as the Federal Reserve Board raised the federal funds rate to combat the 40-year high inflation Americans are experiencing; a direct result of the policies of the Biden administration.

Washington, DC -- Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) released the following statement regarding the United States Supreme Court's decision in Dobbs vs. Jackson:

"The Supreme Court has made the right decision, which will save lives. The Pennsylvania General Assembly and Governor Wolf should take action to protect the sanctity of life. In Congress, I will continue to support pro-life policies which protect the unborn," said Smucker.
