It is an honor and privilege to serve the residents of southern York and Lancaster counties in Washington. As a Member of Congress, one of my responsibilities is to serve as a connection and liaison between the constituents we represent and the many federal departments and agencies. I wanted to provide important updates to federal programs for seniors.

Earlier this year, I stood socially-distanced with my House Republican colleagues on the steps of the U.S. Capitol to discuss a series of policy proposals, our Commitment to America. Last month, I introduced legislation to increase services, save taxpayer funding, and increase accountability of passenger rail service in south central Pennsylvania by transferring ownership of the Keystone East Line from the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, commonly known as Amtrak, to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

Thanksgiving is a time for friends and families to come together and give thanks for the blessings that we enjoyed throughout the year. Like much of 2020, Thanksgiving will likely look different for many of us this year. As we take a moment to reflect on the past year, let us be thankful for all who have helped us in our battle against COVID-19 and keep in our prayers those who may be alone or suffering.

During each two-year session of Congress, much of the legislative work is accomplished in one of twenty standing committees which have specialized jurisdiction to review and advance legislation. As I begin my third term in the House of Representatives, I have been appointed to serve on the House Committee on Ways and Means, which has broad jurisdiction over taxation and trade.

Last week, I reintroduced the VA Billing Accountability Act to protect our nation's veterans from delayed co-payment bills from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This legislation would require the Department of Veterans' Affairs to set specific and clear billing requirements so veterans do not receive outdated co-payments from the VA.
