Lloyd Smucker (PA-16), in a speech today on the House floor, urged his colleagues to support the Building A Better America budget resolution to put the nation on a sustainable fiscal path and lay out the path forward for tax reform that will give American families the opportunity to improve their lives.

"Today Republicans released a vision to improve people's lives and put more money back in the pockets of hardworking American families. Our current federal tax code is broken, but we have the fix: give American families the opportunity to improve their lives through a simplified tax code.

WASHINGTON – Today, the House of Representatives passed bipartisan legislation to strengthen and improve career and technical education and give Americans the skills they need to compete for in-demand jobs.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-16) issued the following statement on the House-passed Financial CHOICE Act which included his amendment to help protect consumer data from cyberattacks:
The federal budget process is broken. I've only been in Congress four months and that's clear to me. Since 2010, Congress has passed 31 continuing resolutions to keep the federal government open. Only three fiscal years since 1955 have not produced a continuing resolution. The institution has been governing by crisis for far too long. The most recent omnibus was more than 1,600 pages and only funds the government for five months (and is seven months late). I was sent to Congress not to prop up the failed status quo, but to help end it.
Washington, D.C. – The House Committee on Education and the Workforce today passed bipartisan legislation to help more Americans enter the workforce with the skills necessary to compete for good-paying, in-demand jobs.
