During each two-year session of Congress, much of the legislative work is accomplished in one of twenty standing committees which have specialized jurisdiction to review and advance legislation. As I begin my third term in the House of Representatives, I have been appointed to serve on the House Committee on Ways and Means, which has broad jurisdiction over taxation and trade.
WASHINGTON, DC — Reps. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) and Lisa McClain (MI-10) are announcing the introduction of H.R. 607, the Voter Confidence Act, which establishes a bipartisan and bicameral commission to bolster voter confidence in future federal elections and to review the practices and policies of federal, state and local election officials and the impact they had on the security and integrity of the election.
WASHINGTON, DC —Today, Rep. Lloyd Smucker announced the reintroduction of the Keystone Line for the Commonwealth Act, H.R. 609. First introduced last year, the legislation would require the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, commonly known as Amtrak, to transfer ownership of the Keystone East Line and certain stations along that line to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for management by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

WASHINGTON, DC —Today, Rep. Lloyd Smucker voted against the articles impeachment and issued the following statement:
"Today I opposed the impeachment of President Trump, who will be out of office in less than a week's time. Today's vote on articles of impeachment is a rush to judgment, and will have no practical, immediate effect given the Senate is not slated to return to session until January 19, the day before President Trump will leave office and President-elect Joe Biden is sworn-in as President.

"The storming of the Capitol and assault on law enforcement by extremists last week was wholly unacceptable. As disturbing images of the event continue to circulate, I remain sickened that a mob attacked and killed a uniformed member of law enforcement.

Lloyd Smucker voted in favor of H.R. 133 which provides additional relief to families and small businesses and continues to fund government operations through September 30, 2021. The legislation passed with strong bipartisan support. Smucker issued this statement following the vote:

Thanksgiving is a time for friends and families to come together and give thanks for the blessings that we enjoyed throughout the year. Like much of 2020, Thanksgiving will likely look different for many of us this year. As we take a moment to reflect on the past year, let us be thankful for all who have helped us in our battle against COVID-19 and keep in our prayers those who may be alone or suffering.
