Veterans Issues

Our veterans, service members, and their families have endured tremendous hardships and made significant sacrifices in their fight to preserve the freedom of the United States. Congressman Smucker is committed to improving the well-being and quality of life for the 38,000 veterans in Pennsylvania's 11th district.

Cold War Veterans Recognition:

Cold War veterans make up 36.5% of veterans in the United States. In honor of their service, U.S. Representative Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) plans to recognize Cold War Era veterans in his congressional district. Recognition will include an official Cold War Recognition Certificate presented at a ceremony tentatively in November (time and location to be determined).

The Cold War Recognition Certificate Program is operated by the Department of Defense and is available to all members of the armed forces and qualified federal government civilian personnel who honorably served the United States between September 2, 1945, to December 26, 1991.
