Washington, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives today passed legislation cosponsored by U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker that would make it easier for small businesses to promote a healthy workforce and offer more affordable health care coverage.

The Small Business Health Fairness Act (H.R. 1101) would empower small businesses to band together through association health plans to negotiate health insurance costs on behalf of their employees – providing quality care at a lower cost.

Smucker's support, the House passed the bipartisan VA Accountability First Act and a bipartisan bill to improve the authority of the VA Secretary to hire and retain physicians.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-16) is working to make it easier for victims of domestic violence to leave their abusers. Rep. Smucker has signed on as a cosponsor of the Pet and Women Safety (PAWS) Act – bipartisan legislation that would address obstacles to getting help for victims of abuse by providing shelter and housing assistance for victims and their pets.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-16), in a Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment hearing this morning, questioned the panel on the impact of the EPA's burdensome Waters of the United States (WOTUS) regulation.

During the hearing, Rep. Smucker focused on finding a balance between ensuring clean water and regulatory overreach, saying:

"If we have a regulation like that in place, how could groups go about trying to find a better balance between the goal we want to achieve and that overreach?"

Clearly he should recuse himself if appropriate from any investigations or matters, and indicated he would. I continue to support the ongoing bipartisan examination into these matters."
