WASHINGTON--Reps. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) and Don Davis (NC-01) have introduced the Medicare Patient Choice Act. The legislation evens the playing field for health care providers by correcting a technicality of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 which allowed only certain specified health care providers to opt out of the Medicare program. Physical and occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, audiologists, and chiropractors were excluded from the flexibility to opt out.

The Biden administration’s rule reverts to a definition of “prevailing wage” that has not been used in forty years, causing a dramatic increase in the cost of federally funded construction projects.

The Members write: “As the Senate considers changes, we remain unequivocal in our position that any additional tax cuts must be matched dollar-for-dollar by real, enforceable spending reductions. That union is the cornerstone of the House framework adopted in Section 4001 of H.Con.Res.

LANCASTER, PA – Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) Vice Chair of the Budget Committee, are calling for Congress to pass reconciliation legislation that is “genuinely fiscally responsible.” Failure to achieve the spending reduction targets outlined in the budget resolution will mean “the Ways and Means Committee’s instruction must be lowered dollar-for-dollar to keep the reconciliation bill within the agreed limits.”
