Smucker Votes to Release Epstein Files

November 18, 2025

WASHINGTON– Today, Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) voted in favor of H.R. 4405, the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The House of Representatives passed the bill, which would require the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release its files on Jeffrey Epstein, with overwhelming, nearly unanimous support.

“Transparency is essential for a trustworthy and accountable government. Chairman Comer and the House Oversight Committee have been committed to delivering transparency since day one—having released over 65,000 pages of documents to date related to the Jeffrey Epstein case,”said Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11).

“My vote today is in the name of justice for the victims, transparency for the American people, and accountability for those involved in these heinous crimes against innocent women,” continued Smucker. “Democrats had access to the same documents under the Biden administration but did not release them. This was never about politics for me or my fellow Republicans.

“I hope as a nation we can move forward. The people of PA-11 are focused on their families, work, and the challenges facing our nation today—not the life of a disgraced predator who represents the worst of human behavior.

“I encourage the media to stop obsessing over every detail of Epstein’s past and focus its attention where it belongs: on the issues that matter to families, on strengthening our communities, and on highlighting individuals who lead with integrity.”

The legislation now heads to the Senate for consideration.

Background:

  1. House Committee on Oversight is conducting an ongoing and thorough investigation into the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein.
  2. The Committee has publicly released approximately 65,000 pages of documents to date, providing Americans with the transparency they deserve.
  3. These files include documents from the Department of Justice, the Epstein Estate, former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr’s deposition transcript, and former U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta’s transcript.
  4. Democrats on the Committee have selectively released only three out of approximately 23,000 pages of documents on November 12, 2025, redacting critical information that intentionally altered the context of the emails for political purposes.
