Smucker Hears from Local Small Businesses

Discusses the impact of workforce shortages, supply chain issues, and inflation
Wrightsville, PA —Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) spoke with local businesses in the restaurant and hospitality industry from across Pennsylvania's 11th Congressional District during a roundtable to learn first-hand how they are impacted by workforce shortages and inflation. Lancaster and York County businesses were represented in addition to members of the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association.
"I appreciated learning directly from local businesses how they are addressing the challenges of workforce shortages, supply chain issues, and inflation. I am committed to addressing these issues and advancing policies to build a strong economy. I am hopeful that my legislation, the Essential Workers for Economic Advancement Act, will be a part of the solutions advanced by the House Republican Conference. This legislation will address a key issue discussed today, finding skilled workers to fill vacancies which remains a top concern of local businesses," said Smucker.
"Congressman Smucker has been a valuable ally for the business community, especially for the hospitality, travel, and tourism industries. Our restaurants, hotels, and tourism partners welcomed the opportunity to share with the Congressman and his staff some of the challenges and difficulties facing our industry," said Joe Massaro, president & CEO of the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association. "We appreciate the Congressman's commitment to helping Pennsylvania employers address the unprecedented workforce shortage we're seeing and look forward to working with him as the industry continues to recover and navigate constant economic unpredictability."
