July 21, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC —Today, Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) voted in favor of H.R. 6395, the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021. The legislation passed on a bipartisan vote of 295 to 125. Smucker released this statement following the vote:

"There is no higher responsibility for Congress than to provide for the defense of our nation. I am thankful that today the House came together in support of bipartisan legislation that ensures the brave men and women of our armed forces have the resources they need to carry out their mission and keep our nation safe. This legislation will continue to ensure that the strength of our military is unrivaled across the globe," said Smucker. "This legislation provides a 3 percent raise for our service members, takes steps to deter continued aggression from China, and continues funding our national defense at the bipartisan level agreed to last year to fulfill President Trump's request."
