Smucker Opposes Biden, Pelosi’s Reckless Spending

December 15, 2021

Washington, D.C. –Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) released the following statement after voting against S.J. Res. 33, which will increase our nation's debt limit by $2.5 trillion:

"The midnight debt ceiling vote is about President Biden's continued reckless spending, which I strongly oppose. Biden and Pelosi have pushed nearly $8 trillion in spending already this year, including: $1.9 trillion in their progressive spending wish list, $1.2 trillion "infrastructure" legislation, and the $4.9 trillion Build Back Bankrupt bill. They show no signs of stopping. I've said it repeatedly, and I'll say it again: Congress must get its fiscal house in order. We cannot continue to put these unsustainable levels of debt on future generations of Americans," said Rep. Smucker.
