Smucker Blasts Biden’s Failure to Present Budget

February 8, 2024

February 5 was statutory deadline for president to submit budget to Congress

Washington—Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11), a senior member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after President Biden and his administration failed to submit a budget to Congress by the statutory deadline imposed by the Congressional Budget Act of 1974, as amended:

“With a track record of running massive deficits and adding trillions to our national debt, the Biden administration has never been accused of being fiscally responsible. It should be no surprise to the American people to learn that the Biden administration’s budget proposal is late for the fourth consecutive year. If the past is our guide, American taxpayers can expect trillions of dollars in new spending, ballooning deficits, and more crippling debt from Biden’s eventual budget. President Biden was a Senator when this deadline for a president to submit a budget to Congress was established, it is a shame his presidency forgets to follow the law,” said Rep. Smucker.
