Rep. Smucker: ‘The American People Deserve to Feel Safe’ with Border Security

December 20, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Thursday, the U.S. House passed the House Amendment to the Senate Amendment to H.R. 695, the Further Additional Continuing Appropriations Act of 2019, by a vote of 217-185. U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-Pa.) voted in favor of the measure.

"Our border needs to be secured. Putting off fully funding our border security will endanger the American people," Smucker said. "I've made it clear Congress needs to support the wall – and that's why I voted for this package today."

The House amendment includes $5.7 billion for border security and $8 billion for disaster recovery efforts.

"The American people deserve to feel safe in our country and I'm glad the House agrees," Smucker said.
