Smucker Statement on Goodlatte Immigration Bill

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-16) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives failed to pass Chairman Bob Goodlatte’s Securing America’s Future Act:
“I’m disappointed the House couldn’t pass Chairman Bob Goodlatte’s commonsense immigration legislation today. This bill would make a serious investment in border security, crack down on dangerous sanctuary cities, and address visa overstays – a legislative priority of mine. It would also help many in our community and strengthen our local economy by reforming the agricultural guest worker program. Finally, it would provide long-term stability to DACA recipients and also ensure children remain with their parents when seeking asylum. I’m going to keep working with my colleagues to advance these priorities that fix our badly-broken immigration system.”
